About Us
With the right tools, all nurses are scientists.
At Nursing Science Partners, we believe that nurses are the key to a better healthcare future. And we’re committed to realizing that future by sharing our passion and expertise in nursing research and clinical inquiry. Decades of experience as clinicians, educators, quality analysts, scientists, and leaders makes us uniquely qualified to help nurses use evidence-informed processes to identify and address the most pressing issues in today’s practice environment.
Our products, services, and courses are intended to support nurses in all care environments and for all patient populations, and they are designed by nurse experts who understand the complex challenges of modern clinical practice. Through targeted curriculum, engaging workshops, and individualized mentorship, we arm nurses with the tools and confidence necessary to lead change efforts that improve the quality and safety of patient care.
We founded Nursing Science Partners after seeing the positive impact expert nurse scientists can have by consulting with clinical nurses, healthcare providers, and nurse leaders. We’re on a mission to disrupt the traditional structure of nursing science by moving it closer to the bedside and into the hands of the nurses and clinicians who will use it to transform our practice.
Meet Our Nurse Scientists

As the Chief Nurse Scientist, Michelle C. Hehman, PhD, RN, NPD-BC heads the design, planning, and execution of all clinical inquiry activities for Nursing Science Partners. She is committed to fulfilling NSP’s mission through research that centers the work and value of nursing, education that fosters a culture of evidence-based patient care, and advocacy that promotes more equitable and inclusive health policies.
Michelle is passionate about helping nurses connect research, theory, and practice to elevate the profession and improve healthcare for all. She brings over 18 years of nursing experience to this role, blending her expertise in clinical practice, nursing science, and leadership to inspire collaboration and innovation. An award-winning author, researcher, and nurse historian, Michelle’s work connects nursing’s past with its future, highlighting the profession’s integral role in healthcare. Her research reflects a long-term, interdisciplinary perspective that blends historical context with forward-thinking solutions for current and future issues in nursing and healthcare.
A former NCAA volleyball champion at Stanford University, Michelle now resides near Chicago with her husband and three children. When she’s not leading the charge for nursing science, she enjoys baking cookies, walking along the lakeshore, and cheering from the sidelines as her kids compete in football, basketball, baseball, and volleyball. Michelle’s work—and life—embody her belief in the transformative power of nursing to create a healthier world.
